Vintage Fish House Videos | Pearlscale Goldfish

We no longer have a fish house, but we do have some nice memories from it. These are hazy vintage-effect videos, shot on a cheap camera phone, mostly to show new fish arrivals to my kids while working alone in the store. I hope you enjoy them - Mark (owner).

The pearlscale goldfish is a fascinating and charming breed that's easily recognized by its round body and unique, pearly appearance. These fish have metallic or matte scales with a raised, bead-like quality that gives them their "pearl" look. They come in a variety of colors, including white, orange, red, calico, and even combinations of these.

Pearlscales are relatively small compared to other goldfish, typically growing to about 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) in length. Their compact, rotund bodies and slightly arched backs give them an adorable, almost cartoonish appearance. They often have a double tail, which enhances their graceful swimming.

These goldfish are hardy and peaceful, making them a great choice for aquariums. However, due to their delicate scales and unique shape, they require specific care. They prefer a well-maintained tank with stable water conditions and a balanced diet of high-quality fish food, including pellets and occasional treats like vegetables or live food.

Pearlscales are slow swimmers, so it's best to keep them with other similarly docile fish. They're also prone to buoyancy issues due to their body shape, so overfeeding should be avoided.
