Sponge fry filters can be used to supplement any aquarium filtration. Being air driven, they are a highly effective aquarium mechanical filter with a large surface area and potential to cultivate good bacteria.

Sponge filter's require attaching to an aquarium air pump to operate, by creating suction through the uplift tube. Sponge filters can also be attached to powerhead inlets as a pre-filter sponge.
