Sea Spiders! (Genus: Nymphon)

Found all around the coast of the British Isles, sea-spiders have little in common with the ordinary land spider except their names.

Similar to spider-crabs, the sea-spider is distinguished by its long thin body and legs, giving it a very creepy-crawly like appearance.

They measure no more than about an inch in size, and can be found crawling over and feeding on columns of sea-anemones. The life expectancy of a sea spider is usually about a year.

Be assured all arachnophobes among us, your beach sunbathing is safe! Sea-spiders are commonly found in what's known as the 'sublittoral zone' of the ocean, which means they are always submerged.
