Acreichthys tomentosus
Description
A small, shaggy-textured filefish bought specifically to eat Aiptasia anemones, which it does with real enthusiasm. Charming, and not entirely trustworthy.
Feeding
Eats Aiptasia readily. Once the pest is cleared it needs frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, clam and marine pellets, twice daily.
Compatibility
Not reliably reef safe once the Aiptasia is gone - many individuals move on to soft corals, zoanthids and polyps. Peaceful toward fish.
Behaviour and personality
Hovers and manoeuvres precisely, picking constantly at rockwork. Can change colour and texture to match its surroundings.
Before you buy
Excellent at the job it is bought for, then a genuine risk to your corals afterwards. Many keepers move it on once the Aiptasia is cleared. Plan for that before buying.

Free delivery when your livestock subtotal is over £350.
Delivery is scheduled for your selected delivery date and typically arrives before 1pm.
There is no minimum order value.

- Shipping for dry goods is charged separately from livestock delivery and does not count towards the £350 free delivery threshold. Dry goods are dispatched according to our standard delivery policy.
