Paracheirodon innesi
Description
A captive-bred albino form of the familiar neon, keeping the iridescent blue stripe and red flash but losing the dark pigment entirely. The effect is softer and more luminous than the standard fish.
Feeding
Small flake, micro-pellets and frozen daphnia, cyclops or baby brine shrimp.
Compatibility
Peaceful community fish. Keep in groups of ten or more. Avoid larger fish with mouths big enough to take them, including angelfish.
Behaviour and personality
Active mid-water shoaler that responds strongly to numbers, becoming bolder and better coloured in a larger group.
Before you buy
Like all albino forms it is a little more light-sensitive than the standard fish, and appreciates floating plants or dimmer lighting. Best added to an established aquarium rather than a new one.
