OriginNative to the Amap√° region of northern Brazil, inhabiting slow-moving rivers, streams, and flooded forest areas with dense vegetation and leaf litter.
FeedingOmnivorous. Accepts high-quality flake or micro-pellets, frozen foods (bloodworms, brine shrimp), and occasional live foods. A varied diet enhances colouration and overall health.
Tank MatesPeaceful schooling species; best kept with other small, non-aggressive fish such as tetras, rasboras, and dwarf cichlids. Avoid larger, predatory fish.
AggressionCompletely peaceful. Displays typical schooling behaviour and prefers to be kept in groups of at least 6–8 individuals.
Experience LevelBeginner to intermediate. Hardy and adaptable, suitable for a variety of freshwater community setups.
