Mikrogeophagus Rams are small, brilliantly colored dwarf cichlids that bring vibrant personality to freshwater aquariums. Their compact size and striking patterns make them a favorite centerpiece fish.
Origin:
Found in the Orinoco River Basin, South America, inhabiting warm, slow-moving waters with sandy substrates and dense vegetation.
Feeding:
Omnivores that thrive on a mix of high-quality flakes or pellets, supplemented with frozen/live foods such as bloodworms, daphnia, and brine shrimp.
Tank Mates:
Best with peaceful community fish like tetras, Corydoras, rasboras, and small plecos. Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful, though pairs may become territorial when breeding.
Experience Level:
Best for intermediate aquarists, as Rams need stable, pristine water conditions.
