Amphiprion latezonatus
Description
A rare Australian clownfish, dark brown to black with three broad white bands, the middle one unusually wide. Among the most sought-after and expensive clownfish in the hobby.
Feeding
Marine pellets, flake and frozen mysis and brine shrimp. Wild specimens may take a little longer to settle onto prepared food.
Compatibility
Reef safe. Larger and more assertive than ocellaris clowns. Keep singly or as a bonded pair.
Behaviour and personality
Bold and territorial around a chosen host. The broad central band is what distinguishes it from other clownfish.
Before you buy
A subtropical species from cooler Australian waters, so it prefers the lower end of the reef temperature range. Wild-caught and expensive, so quarantine properly before introduction.
