Amphiprion biaculeatus
Description
A maroon clownfish with the jagged branching lightning pattern that made this line famous, bred at Bali Aquarich. Larger and more assertive than common clownfish.
Feeding
Marine pellets, flake and frozen mysis and brine shrimp. A vigorous feeder.
Compatibility
Reef safe but the most aggressive of the clownfish, particularly mature females. Keep singly or as a bonded pair with robust tankmates.
Behaviour and personality
Bold and strongly territorial. Females grow much larger than males and will defend a host against your hand during maintenance.
Before you buy
Maroon clowns are genuinely territorial and will bite during tank maintenance. They also grow considerably larger than ocellaris or percula clowns, so allow more space.
