Corydoras Metae 3cm Bandit Catfish
Overview: The Corydoras Metae, commonly known as the Bandit Cory, is a small and peaceful freshwater fish. It is highly sought after for its striking appearance, with a distinctive black band covering its eyes like a mask, contrasted against a silver or pale body. Growing up to 2 inches in length, these active bottom dwellers are perfect for community aquariums.
Origin: Native to the Meta River in Colombia, South America, Bandit Corys thrive in soft, acidic waters. They are found in slow-moving rivers and streams with sandy or muddy bottoms, often hidden among fallen leaves and debris.
Feeding: Omnivorous by nature, Corydoras Metae readily accepts a variety of foods. A balanced diet includes high-quality sinking pellets or wafers, supplemented with live or frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. Occasional vegetable matter or blanched vegetables can also be offered.
Tank Mates: Being peaceful and sociable, Bandit Corys do well with other non-aggressive fish. Ideal tank mates include small tetras, rasboras, dwarf cichlids, and other Corydoras species. They prefer to be in groups of at least 5-6, as they are schooling fish and exhibit more natural behaviors when in the company of their kind.
Aggression: These Corydoras are known for their peaceful demeanor and pose no threat to other fish. They are more likely to be intimidated by larger or more aggressive species.
Experience Level: Bandit Corys are suitable for both novice and experienced aquarists. Their hardy nature and adaptability make them a great choice for those new to fishkeeping, while their unique behavior and social interactions appeal to seasoned hobbyists.
