Acanthurus bariene
Description
A deep-bodied surgeonfish in dark olive with a bright orange patch behind the eye and a blue-edged tail. Mature specimens develop a pronounced forehead bump.
Feeding
Primarily herbivorous. Dried marine algae daily, spirulina foods and some frozen meaty food.
Compatibility
Reef safe but territorial with other tangs. Needs substantial swimming length.
Behaviour and personality
Active and constantly grazing. Develops a distinctive head profile as it matures.
Before you buy
Grows very large and needs a system to match. Ich-prone like most Acanthurus, so quarantine before introduction.
