Description
A modest gold-brown fish for most of the year that transforms in display, the males turning deep crimson-black across the head and forebody. Peaceful and undemanding.
Feeding
Flake, pellets and frozen foods with some vegetable content.
Compatibility
Peaceful, unlike many barbs. Keep in groups of eight or more with a mix of sexes. Suits most community tanks.
Behaviour and personality
Males display to one another constantly, and the colour change during display is dramatic and quick.
Before you buy
Shop specimens look plain. The ruby colour only appears on mature males with females present, so judge the fish on what it becomes rather than what arrives.
DX courier delivery is £20 per livestock order.
Delivery is scheduled for your selected delivery date and typically arrives before 1pm.
There is no minimum or maximum order value.
