The Bleeding Heart Anthias is a vibrantly colored marine fish known for its striking pink to orange body and distinctive red “bleeding heart” marking on the dorsal region. Highly active and social, it brings dynamic movement and color to mid-water areas of a reef aquarium.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, typically inhabiting deep coral reefs and drop-offs in locations such as Indonesia and the Philippines.
Feeding:
Planktivorous – feeds on zooplankton and other small live or frozen foods. In captivity, provide frequent feedings of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other planktonic foods.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful community fish. Ideal for other anthias, reef-safe species, and schooling mid-water fish.
Aggression:
Non-aggressive – thrives in groups of 6 or more for natural schooling behavior.
Experience Level:
Intermediate to advanced – requires a well-established aquarium with stable water conditions and frequent feeding.
