Symphysodon discus
Description
A discus line bred for a fine checkerboard grid of blue striations over a pale body. As demanding as any discus, and as spectacular when kept properly.
Feeding
Frozen bloodworm, beefheart preparations, discus granules and brine shrimp, fed several times daily.
Compatibility
Keep as a group of five or more. Very few suitable tankmates - rummynose tetras and corydoras work; most other community fish do not.
Behaviour and personality
Calm and deliberate, with a clear pecking order in a settled group.
Before you buy
The pattern only develops fully in mature, well-kept fish. Requires warm, soft water and a serious water change routine. Not a beginner's fish.
