Blue Spot Goby (Cryptocentrus pavoninoides)
Overview:
The Blue Spot Goby is a peaceful, small marine goby known for its delicate body and striking blue spots. Often forming symbiotic relationships with pistol shrimp, it adds both charm and activity to reef aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly found on sandy or rubble substrates near coral reefs.
Feeding:
Omnivorous. Feeds on small invertebrates, detritus, and microfauna. In captivity, accepts finely chopped seafood, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality sinking pellets.
Tank Mates:
Peaceful and reef-safe. Best housed with small, non-aggressive fish and invertebrates. Avoid large, aggressive species.
Aggression:
Non-aggressive; may display mild territorial behavior when paired with conspecifics, especially near a shared burrow.
Experience Level:
Intermediate. Requires a mature aquarium with sandy substrate for burrowing, hiding places, and stable water parameters.
