Thalassoma amblycephalum
Description
A fast-swimming Thalassoma wrasse, the terminal males carrying a green head above a bright pink and yellow body. Restless, colourful and demanding of space.
Feeding
Carnivorous and planktivorous. Frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, chopped prawn and marine pellets, two or three times daily.
Compatibility
Reef safe with corals but will take ornamental shrimp and small snails. Active and boisterous; can unsettle timid tankmates.
Behaviour and personality
Extremely fast and constantly swimming in open water. Terminal males develop a green head over a pink and yellow body.
Before you buy
Needs a lot of open swimming room and a sealed lid, as Thalassoma wrasses are strong jumpers. Considerably more boisterous than a fairy or Halichoeres wrasse.
