Bulldog Goby (Acentrogobius caninus)
Overview:
The Bulldog Goby is a hardy and peaceful marine goby with a robust body and subtle coloration. Known for its calm nature and burrowing behavior, it is an excellent choice for sandy reef or mixed-substrate aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly inhabiting sandy or muddy substrates near coral reefs and estuaries.
Feeding:
Omnivorous. Feeds on small invertebrates, detritus, and microfauna. In captivity, accepts finely chopped seafood, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality sinking pellets.
Tank Mates:
Peaceful and reef-safe. Compatible with small, non-aggressive fish and invertebrates. Avoid larger or aggressive species that may disturb burrows or compete for food.
Aggression:
Non-aggressive; may establish a small territory around its burrow but poses no threat to other species.
Experience Level:
Intermediate. Requires a mature tank with sandy substrate for burrowing and stable water conditions.
