Chaetodon collare
Description
A dark butterflyfish with a white collar behind the head, a red-brown body and a bright orange tail band. Hardy for the family and one of the more feedable species.
Feeding
Omnivorous and relatively adaptable. Frozen mysis, clam, chopped prawn and marine pellets, two or three times daily.
Compatibility
Peaceful toward fish and often kept in pairs. Not reef safe - will eat corals, anemones and tubeworms.
Behaviour and personality
Cruises steadily around the tank, picking at rockwork. Settles reasonably readily.
Before you buy
Among the hardier butterflyfish for feeding, but unsafe with corals. Best in a fish-only system, ideally as a pair.
