The Common Leaf Fish, or Leaf Scorpionfish, is a captivating and well-camouflaged reef species known for its leaf-like appearance and gentle swaying motion that mimics drifting debris. Found in a variety of colors—brown, yellow, white, or pink—it adds an element of intrigue and subtle beauty to peaceful marine aquariums.

Widespread throughout the Indo-Pacific region, including Indonesia, Fiji, and the Great Barrier Reef, Taenianotus triacanthus inhabits coral reefs and rubble zones where it blends perfectly into its environment.

A carnivore that typically accepts live foods such as small shrimp at first but can be trained to eat frozen meaty foods like mysis, krill, and chopped seafood. Feed once daily with appropriately sized portions.

Best kept with peaceful, non-aggressive species such as tangs, butterflyfish, or gobies. Avoid small fish and shrimp that may be viewed as prey, as well as overly active or territorial tank mates.

Peaceful and sedentary. The Common Leaf Fish relies on stealth and camouflage rather than aggression, spending much of its time perched among live rock or corals.

Recommended for intermediate aquarists. Hardy once acclimated but requires careful feeding and a calm, stable aquarium.
