Overview:
The Deep Sea Starfish is a small, delicate starfish with subtle coloration and fine-textured arms, making it a fascinating addition for marine aquarium enthusiasts. It is generally reef-safe and adds quiet beauty to established aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, typically found on deeper reef slopes and rocky substrates.
Feeding:
Feeds on biofilm, detritus, and microalgae. May require supplemental feeding with finely chopped seafood or algae-based diets in captive systems where natural food is limited.
Tank Mates:
Reef-safe. Compatible with peaceful fish, corals, and most invertebrates. Avoid predatory species that may nip at or harm the starfish.
Aggression:
Completely peaceful.
Experience Level:
Intermediate. Requires a mature, stable aquarium with clean water and plenty of live rock or substrate for grazing. Sensitive to sudden changes in water chemistry.
