Description
Overview:
The Fireball Dwarf Angelfish is a striking and active marine fish, boasting a deep midnight-blue body with a fiery orange face and tail. Its compact size and bold coloration make it a favorite choice for reef enthusiasts and community tanks.
Origin:
Found throughout the Western Indian Ocean, including East Africa, Madagascar, and the Maldives.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – thrives on a varied diet of marine algae, spirulina, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality angelfish pellets or frozen foods. Supplement with seaweed sheets to support health and coloration.
Tank Mates:
Best suited to tanks with peaceful to semi-aggressive species. Can be territorial toward other dwarf angelfish, so keep singly unless in a large aquarium. May occasionally nip at LPS corals, zoanthids, or clam mantles.
Aggression:
Semi-aggressive – confident and occasionally territorial, especially in smaller tanks.
Experience Level:
Intermediate – hardy but requires stable conditions and a mature tank with plenty of live rock for grazing.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C)
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Salinity: 1.020–1.025
- Minimum Tank Size: 70+ gallons
The Fireball Angelfish is a vibrant, hardy, and rewarding addition for aquarists looking to add a splash of fiery color to their marine aquarium.
