While it shares some ancestry with the Zhen Zhu (Pearl) lineage, the Vietnamese strain is distinct in its more compact body shape and intense patterning.

Selective breeding programs in Vietnam, derived from crossbreeding Zhen Zhu, Kamfa, and other established Flowerhorn strains.
Feeding:
- Staple diet: Premium Flowerhorn pellets formulated for kok development and color.
- Enhancements: Krill, bloodworms, and shrimp to enrich red tones and maintain growth.
- Feeding schedule: Small portions 2–3 times daily for best coloration and kok health.
Tank Mates:
Best kept solo. If housed with others, only in very large tanks with equally dominant fish.
Aggression:
Extremely aggressive and territorial. True to Flowerhorn temperament, Vietnamese strains are best kept in species-only aquariums.
