Description

Galaxy Rasbora / Celestial Parl Danio

The Galaxy Rasbora (Microrasbora sp) recently underwent somewhat of a change. The species has been renamed from Galaxy Rasbora to Celestial Pearl Danio. This was done after it was established that the fish is more closely related to the Danios fish species. When the fish was first discovered it used to be called the Microrasbora sp. Now it has the official name of Danio Margaritatus. These Rasbora / Danios can be shy when in a new aquarium so having a planted tank will help them to feel at home. Perfect for nano tanks and brightly coloured so stand out well.

The Galaxy Rasbora was so named because the patterning on its body resembles stars in the night sky, hence also the name Celestial Danio. The first discovery of this fish was made in 2006 in Asia, Myanmar at an area near the Salween River Basin.

Are Galaxy Rasbora fin-nippers?
Galaxy Rasbora, or Celestial Pearl Danios may have small bouts of fin-nipping with their tank mates but this should not be too serious. Galaxy Rasbora has a very small mouth so the size of the food should reflect this. Feed fine granules, such as Betta or Fry food granules.
