Gobiodon rivulatus
Description
A tiny, blunt-headed goby in olive-green with fine red facial lines, perching directly on coral branches. Comical and full of character.
Feeding
Carnivorous. Frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp and fine marine pellets, twice daily. A slow, deliberate feeder.
Compatibility
Peaceful and suitable for nano reefs. Will perch on and occasionally irritate small-polyp stony corals, particularly Acropora.
Behaviour and personality
Perches motionless on coral branches, moving in short hops. Produces a bitter skin mucus that deters predators.
Before you buy
Perching and egg-laying on Acropora can cause tissue recession, so it is not universally welcome in an SPS reef. Otherwise hardy and easy, and ideal for a small tank.
