Pseudanthias squamipinnis
Description
The classic reef anthias, a shoal of golden females attended by a larger orange-red male. Spectacular in a group and one of the defining sights of a mature reef tank.
Feeding
Planktivore with a fast metabolism. Frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp and fine marine pellets, three or more times daily.
Compatibility
Reef safe and peaceful. Keep as one male with three or more females - they are harem spawners and a lone fish does poorly.
Behaviour and personality
Hovers in open water above the rockwork, feeding constantly. The male is orange-red and larger; females are golden. If the male dies, the dominant female changes sex to replace him.
Before you buy
The feeding frequency decides success - once-daily feeding starves anthias slowly over a few months. Buy a harem rather than individuals, and expect the group to establish a clear hierarchy.

Free delivery when your livestock subtotal is over £350.
Delivery is scheduled for your selected delivery date and typically arrives before 1pm.
There is no minimum order value.

- If any stock issues affect your chosen delivery date, we will contact you as soon as possible by email or telephone.
- Shipping for dry goods is charged separately from livestock delivery and does not count towards the £350 free delivery threshold. Dry goods are dispatched according to our standard delivery policy.
