Description

Microsorum pteropus or Java Fern is a species with many varieties. Microsorum pteropus ‘Trident’ is a narrow-leaved, smaller form of Microsorum, which like other Microsorum is an easy and safe plant.

Trident is both suitable for beginners and experienced 'scapers, and fits both smaller and larger aquariums. The name ’Trident’ indicates that the plant leafs are tripartite, while the leaves can vary from whole to multipartite.  New, small plants are often created on the leaf tips, and can carefully be pulled off and planted.

Microsorum are slow growers, and require very few nutrients to survive. Microsorum draw nourishment from the water, and not from the substrate. Like Anubias, Java Fern will attach its roots to driftwood, rocks or any rough surface - do not bury the rhizome in gravel or substrate or it will rot.

Please note: whilst every effort is made to prevent or remove snails and snail eggs, we do not use copper treatments in our systems (because copper is also harmful to shrimp) so cannot absolutely guarantee snail-free. If you are concerned about snails, we recommended that you dip your plants in a snail preventative solution, such as Esha Gastropex, prior to adding to your aquarium. We do not recommend buying treated plants, or administering copper or anti-snail treatments if you have shrimp in your aquarium. Snails are perfectly safe in an aquarium and will not harm your fish.
