Care guide at a glance
Rasbora patrickyapi
Description
A striking blackwater rasbora marked with a bold dark triangle and a warm copper flush, considerably more dramatic than most of the genus.
Feeding
Flake, micro-pellets and frozen daphnia, cyclops and bloodworm.
Compatibility
Peaceful. Keep in groups of eight or more with other soft-water species such as other Rasbora, Boraras and licorice gouramis.
Behaviour and personality
Shoals loosely through the middle levels, more confident with dim light and heavy cover.
Before you buy
A genuine blackwater fish. It wants soft, acidic, tannin-stained water and subdued lighting; in hard alkaline water the colour fades and the fish does poorly.
