Channa pulchra
Description
A compact snakehead patterned in iridescent blue-green scaling, considerably smaller than most of the family. Intelligent, predatory and full of presence.
Feeding
Carnivorous. Frozen prawn, mussel, earthworm and carnivore pellets. Do not feed live feeder fish or mammalian meat.
Compatibility
Predatory and territorial. Will eat any fish it can swallow. Best kept alone or as an established pair in a large tank. Not a community fish.
Behaviour and personality
Intelligent, watchful and quick to recognise its keeper. Breathes atmospheric air and must have unobstructed surface access.
Before you buy
An absolutely committed escape artist - the tank must be sealed completely, with no gaps around pipework, or the fish will get out and die on the floor. Prefers cooler water than most tropicals and benefits from a seasonal temperature drop.

DX courier delivery is £29.95 per livestock order.
Free delivery when your livestock subtotal is over £350.
Delivery is scheduled for your selected delivery date and typically arrives before 1pm.
There is no minimum order value.
Additional information:
- In-stock livestock orders will be processed and dispatched for delivery on the date selected on the cart/basket page.
- Available delivery days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
- If any stock issues affect your chosen delivery date, we will contact you as soon as possible by email or telephone.
- Shipping for dry goods is charged separately from livestock delivery and does not count towards the £350 free delivery threshold. Dry goods are dispatched according to our standard delivery policy.
