Hoplisoma paleatum
Description
The original aquarium cory, mottled in dark green-grey over a pale body. Long established, extremely hardy and one of the few corys genuinely happy at cooler temperatures.
Feeding
Sinking pellets, wafers and frozen foods. Food must reach the bottom in quantity - they will not thrive on what other fish leave behind.
Compatibility
Entirely peaceful. Keep in groups of six or more with any calm community fish.
Behaviour and personality
Busy bottom-dweller, working the substrate for food during the day, with periodic dashes to the surface for a gulp of air.
Before you buy
Comes from further south than most corys and prefers cooler water; kept permanently warm it is shorter-lived. Soft sand protects the barbels.
