Pink Spot Goby Cryptocentrus Leptocephalus
The Pink Spotted Watchman Goby, also known as the Pink and Blue Spotted Goby or Singapore Shrimp, is a moderately-sized goby species found in the Indo-West Pacific region. It has a pearly-white body with beautiful pink spots throughout its body and fins. This goby is typically found in association with a Tiger Pistol Shrimp, with the shrimp maintaining the burrow they share and the goby alerting the nearly blind shrimp of potential threats. The Pink Spotted Watchman Goby is primarily carnivorous, feeding on small organisms and zooplankton. It requires a diet of high-quality, vitamin-enriched frozen preparations such as brine shrimp, calanus, cyclopeeze, and rotifers. A minimum 55-gallon aquarium is recommended for this species, as larger specimens can reach up to 6 inches in size. A tight-fitting lid is necessary as they are known to jump out of the aquarium when startled. The goby will appreciate some rock work to build a small burrow, and it is recommended to house it with its preferred shrimp partner, the Tiger Pistol Shrimp. The Pink Spotted Watchman Goby is generally peaceful but can be territorial, especially towards its own kind unless they are a mated pair. It makes an excellent reef inhabitant but should not be kept with overly aggressive tank mates. The recommended water parameters are 72-78°F, KH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, and salinity 1.020-1.025. Overall, the Pink Spotted Watchman Goby is a moderately-sized, peaceful goby species that requires a well-established aquarium and a specialized diet to thrive.
