The Potter’s Wrasse is a breathtaking reef-safe species celebrated for its intricate mosaic of orange, blue, and purple markings. Graceful and peaceful, this Hawaiian native adds vibrant color and motion to reef aquariums while providing natural pest control by feeding on small invertebrates and parasites.

Endemic to the Hawaiian Islands, Macropharyngodon geoffroy inhabits coral rubble zones and sandy reef slopes, where it forages for tiny crustaceans and worms.

A carnivore that feeds primarily on small invertebrates in the wild. In captivity, offer a varied diet of frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets. Feed 2–3 times daily. A mature tank with live rock helps sustain natural grazing behavior.

Peaceful and reef-safe with most tankmates, including gobies, tangs, anthias, and fairy wrasses. Avoid aggressive species that may outcompete it for food or cause stress.

Docile and non-aggressive. Best kept in calm reef environments with plenty of rockwork and a fine sand bed for burrowing and resting.

Recommended for intermediate to advanced aquarists. Requires a mature, stable aquarium with established microfauna and pristine water quality.
