Zebrasoma xanthurum
Description
A deep violet-blue tang finished with a bright yellow tail, the body finely speckled. One of the most sought-after Red Sea fish, and a serious commitment.
Feeding
Primarily herbivorous. Dried marine algae sheets offered daily, plus spirulina-based foods and some frozen meaty food. Insufficient algae leads to poor colour and lateral line erosion.
Compatibility
Reef safe but aggressive toward other tangs, particularly other Zebrasoma. Generally one tang per tank unless it is very large. Fine with most other robust reef fish.
Behaviour and personality
Constantly grazing and constantly moving. Territorial and quick to challenge newcomers of similar shape.
Before you buy
Needs a genuinely large tank with swimming length, not just volume. Tangs are prone to marine ich when stressed, so quarantine before introduction. The daily algae feeding is not optional.

Delivery is scheduled for your selected delivery date and typically arrives before 1pm.
There is no minimum order value.

- If any stock issues affect your chosen delivery date, we will contact you as soon as possible by email or telephone.
- Shipping for dry goods is charged separately from livestock delivery and does not count towards the £350 free delivery threshold. Dry goods are dispatched according to our standard delivery policy.
