Oryzias latipes
Description
A small Japanese ricefish, or medaka, in a red-and-white patterned form. Hardy, tolerant of cool temperatures and content in an unheated tank indoors.
Feeding
Small flake, micro-pellets and frozen daphnia and baby brine shrimp. Feeds at the surface.
Compatibility
Peaceful and sociable. Keep in groups of six or more. Best with other coolwater species rather than warm tropicals.
Behaviour and personality
Occupies the top of the water column and rarely comes far down. Active and easy to observe.
Before you buy
Genuinely tolerant of cool water and often kept in outdoor containers in summer. Hard alkaline water suits them; soft acidic water does not.

Delivery is scheduled for your selected delivery date and typically arrives before 1pm.
