A small orange-red whiptail catfish, slender and flat with a long tapering tail. Captive-bred, peaceful and well suited to a quiet community tank.
Feeding
Largely herbivorous. Algae wafers, blanched vegetables and vegetable-based sinking foods, with bogwood available.
Compatibility
Peaceful and non-competitive. Best with small calm tankmates. Fine kept in a group.
Behaviour and personality
Spends the day resting on wood and flat surfaces, becoming more active in the evening.
Before you buy
Easily outcompeted for food by faster fish. Needs bogwood and good oxygenation. Frequently sold simply as Rineloricaria sp., so exact identification varies between shipments.
