Paracanthurus hepatus
Description
The royal blue surgeonfish with a black palette marking and a bright yellow tail. Instantly recognisable and one of the most requested marine fish.
Feeding
Primarily herbivorous. Dried marine algae daily, spirulina foods and some frozen meaty food.
Compatibility
Reef safe and relatively peaceful for a tang, though territorial with its own kind. Can be kept with other tangs in a large system.
Behaviour and personality
Wedges itself into rock crevices to sleep or when startled, and will play dead on its side, which alarms new keepers. Constantly active otherwise.
Before you buy
Quarantine before introduction, as tangs are prone to marine ich. Daily access to algae is essential for colour and long-term health.
DX courier delivery is £20 per livestock order.
Delivery is scheduled for your selected delivery date and typically arrives before 1pm.
