Overview:
The Saddle Grouper, also known as the Blacksaddled Coral Grouper, is a stunning reef predator prized for its distinctive black saddle-like markings on a pale body. Juveniles often display striking contrast, while adults develop a more refined pattern, making them a true showpiece for large marine aquariums.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, including the Great Barrier Reef, Coral Sea, and throughout tropical Pacific islands.

Feeding:
Carnivorous – thrives on a varied diet of meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, fish, and other protein-rich offerings. Will readily accept fresh or frozen marine preparations.

Tank Mates:
Best kept with large, robust tank mates such as other groupers, triggers, large wrasses, and tangs. Will prey upon small fish and invertebrates.

Aggression:
Predatory and territorial – can be aggressive, especially in smaller spaces. Requires plenty of rockwork for cover and open swimming areas.
