Chaetodontoplus duboulayi
Description
An Australian angelfish patterned in fine blue scribbling over a black body, with a bright yellow tail and forehead band. Handsome, uncommon and priced accordingly.
Feeding
Omnivorous with a sponge component. Angelfish preparations containing sponge, plus mysis, clam, dried algae and marine pellets, two or three times daily.
Compatibility
Not reliably reef safe - will sample soft corals, clams and zoanthids. Territorial toward other angelfish. Peaceful with most other reef fish.
Behaviour and personality
Cruises steadily and picks constantly at rockwork. Bold once settled, shy for the first week.
Before you buy
Needs a large mature system with live rock to graze. Prefers slightly cooler water than most tropical marines. Not a safe bet in a coral-heavy reef.
