Ease of care
Easy. These warm water fish are great for hobbyist just starting to look after tropical freshwater fishes.
The main food we recommend would be tropical fish flake. Occasional live or frozen food can be given as a treat.
Community with no long fined fish (like guppies) or fin nippers. A slightly more aggressive tetra, do not house with smaller tetras such as neons, as they may bully.
Popular tankmates: Platys, Molly, larger Tetra.

Moderate. Silvertip Tetras are egg-layers. You will see the male chase around the female for a little while. They will then start to rub sides and then the female will release eggs. If you intend to keep fry, the parents need to be removed as soon as the eggs are laid otherwise the parents will eat them. Males are more colourful and females are usually slimmer.
They can live to anything from 3-5 years in perfect conditions.
