Carnivorous. Accepts a variety of protein-rich foods such as:

• Bloodworms
• Earthworms
• Insect larvae
• Sinking amphibian or carnivore pellets
• Small strips of fish or prawn

A varied diet promotes health and natural coloration.

Best kept in a species-only tank. If added to community setups, only very peaceful, small, cold-water fish are suitable.

Avoid: Large fish, fin-nippers, aggressive species, and crustaceans.

Generally peaceful but may eat very small fish or invertebrates. Territorial displays are minimal.

Beginner to intermediate. Very hardy, but requires cool, clean, well-oxygenated water and secure housing.
