Hoplisoma sterbai
Description
A dark-bodied cory covered in fine white spotting, with bright orange pectoral fins. Widely considered the most attractive of the readily available corydoras, and unusually tolerant of warm water.
Feeding
Sinking pellets, wafers and frozen foods. Food must reach the bottom in quantity - they will not thrive on what other fish leave behind.
Compatibility
Entirely peaceful. Keep in groups of six or more with any calm community fish.
Behaviour and personality
Busy bottom-dweller, working the substrate for food during the day, with periodic dashes to the surface for a gulp of air.
Before you buy
Soft sand substrate is strongly recommended. Sharp gravel wears down the barbels, and a cory that has lost them struggles to feed.
