Native to Sumatra, Indonesia, inhabiting fast-flowing rivers and streams with rocky substrates and strong currents.

Carnivorous and aggressive feeder. Prefers live or frozen foods such as small fish, shrimp, worms, and other meaty items. Requires a high-protein diet to maintain condition.

Best kept alone or with very large, non-aggressive fish. Avoid smaller species that may be seen as prey. Needs a tank that can accommodate its size and active behaviour.

Predatory and territorial. May show aggression toward smaller fish and conspecifics unless housed in an extremely large setup.

Advanced. Requires a very large, well-filtered aquarium with strong current, plenty of hiding spaces, and secure lid. Not suitable for beginners.
