Native to the tropical Western Atlantic and Caribbean, the Swiss Guard Basslet inhabits deep coral reefs and rocky ledges, where it shelters among caves and crevices during the day.

A carnivorous species that thrives on meaty marine foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality frozen or pellet foods. Feed once or twice daily for best color and condition.

Peaceful and reef-safe, it coexists well with other calm reef fish such as gobies, blennies, anthias, and small wrasses. Avoid aggressive tank mates or large predators, as the Swiss Guard prefers a quiet environment.

Very peaceful and shy, particularly when first introduced. It becomes more confident over time but still prefers shaded areas, caves, and plenty of rockwork for security.

Ideal for intermediate to advanced aquarists. This species thrives in mature, stable aquariums with subdued lighting and ample hiding spaces, making it a rewarding addition for dedicated reef keepers.
