Native to the Indian Ocean, particularly around the Maldives and Sri Lanka, Halichoeres leucoxanthus inhabits coral reefs and sandy lagoons, often foraging among rocks and coral heads.

An omnivorous feeder that thrives on a varied diet of frozen mysis, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and quality marine pellets. It will also graze naturally on small invertebrates within the aquarium. Feed 2–3 times daily.

Peaceful and reef-safe with most species. Ideal companions include tangs, anthias, gobies, and other non-aggressive wrasses. Avoid keeping with overly territorial or predatory fish.

Generally peaceful, though it may show mild territorial behavior toward other wrasses, especially in smaller tanks. Provide ample swimming space and hiding spots.
