Chaetodon mesoleucos
Description
A Red Sea butterflyfish with a white face grading into a dark brown body and a yellow tail. Distinctive, and demanding to feed.
Feeding
Feeds on coral polyps and small invertebrates in the wild. Must be weaned onto frozen mysis, clam and blackworm, several times daily. Many specimens adapt poorly.
Compatibility
Peaceful toward fish. Not reef safe - will eat corals, polyps and tubeworms.
Behaviour and personality
Picks constantly at rock and coral surfaces. Shy on arrival and slow to settle.
Before you buy
A difficult feeder that needs a mature system with abundant live rock fauna and considerable patience. Not suitable for a reef.
DX courier delivery is £20 per livestock order.
