Amphiprion akindynos
Description
An Australian clownfish in orange-brown with two clean white bars, endemic to the Great Barrier Reef. Uncommon outside Australian imports.
Feeding
Marine pellets, flake and frozen mysis and brine shrimp. Wild specimens may take a little longer to accept prepared food.
Compatibility
Reef safe. More assertive than ocellaris clowns but less so than maroons. Keep singly or as a bonded pair.
Behaviour and personality
Bold and territorial around a chosen host. Colour deepens from orange-brown toward dark brown with age.
Before you buy
Wild-caught rather than captive-bred, so quarantine before introduction and allow a longer settling period. Colour darkens noticeably as the fish matures.
