Care guide at a glance
Amphiprion percula
Description
The true percula clownfish, distinguished from the common ocellaris by thicker black margins around the white bars and a deeper orange. These are wild-collected specimens.
Feeding
Marine pellets, flake and frozen mysis and brine shrimp. Wild specimens may take a little longer than captive-bred stock to accept prepared food.
Compatibility
Reef safe and peaceful. Keep singly or as a bonded pair. Territorial around a host.
Behaviour and personality
Bolder and often more strongly marked than the ocellaris, with heavier black edging to the white bars.
Before you buy
Wild-caught rather than captive-bred, so quarantine before introduction and expect a slightly longer settling period. Black edging varies considerably between individuals and increases with age.
