Amphiprion clarkii
Description
A clarkii clownfish from the Solomon Islands in near-solid black with crisp white bars and yellow fins. The most variable clownfish species, and this is one of its most striking forms.
Feeding
Marine pellets, flake and frozen mysis and brine shrimp. Wild specimens may take a little longer to accept prepared food.
Compatibility
Reef safe but assertive, and larger than ocellaris or percula clowns. Keep singly or as a bonded pair with robust tankmates.
Behaviour and personality
Bold and strongly territorial around a chosen host. Solomon Islands specimens are almost entirely black with clean white bars.
Before you buy
Larger and more assertive than the common clownfish, so allow more space and choose tankmates accordingly. Wild-caught, so quarantine before introduction.
