Pristella maxillaris
Description
A near-transparent body with crisp black-and-yellow flagged fins, so the skeleton is visible through the flanks. Hardy, adaptable and considerably tougher than it looks.
Feeding
Flake, micro-pellets and small frozen foods. Entirely unfussy.
Compatibility
Peaceful and highly adaptable. Keep in groups of eight or more. One of the few tetras that tolerates slightly harder, alkaline water, so it suits a wider range of community setups.
Behaviour and personality
Active mid-water shoaler, quick to feed and rarely shy.

Among the most forgiving tetras available and a sensible choice for a newer aquarium or harder tap water.
