Xanthic Golden Weather Dojo Loach Misgurnus Anguillicaudatus 6cm

Overview: The Xanthic Golden Weather Dojo Loach, a captivating variant of the Weather Loach, is renowned for its unique golden-yellow coloration and elongated, eel-like body. Growing up to 12 inches in length, this peaceful and active bottom dweller is a delightful addition to many freshwater aquariums. It's named for its ability to detect changes in barometric pressure, often becoming more active before a storm, hence the name "Weather Loach."

Origin: Native to East Asia, particularly in areas like China, Japan, and Korea, the Xanthic Golden Weather Dojo Loach thrives in temperate freshwater environments. In the wild, they are found in slow-moving streams, ponds, and rice paddies.

Feeding: This species is an omnivore, feeding on a variety of foods. They enjoy sinking pellets, frozen or live foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp, and even some vegetables. Their diet should be balanced to maintain optimal health and coloration.

Tank Mates: The Xanthic Golden Weather Dojo Loach is best kept with other peaceful, similarly-sized fish. Good tank mates include larger tetras, rasboras, danios, and some types of catfish. Avoid housing them with small, delicate fish or aggressive species.

Aggression: This loach is known for its peaceful demeanor and is not aggressive towards tank mates. However, they can be boisterous and may inadvertently disturb smaller or shy fish.

Experience Level: Suitable for beginner to intermediate aquarists, this loach is relatively hardy but does require specific care to thrive. Knowledge of proper tank maintenance and water quality management is essential.

Water Parameters:
  • Temperature: 50-72°F (10-22°C), with some flexibility.
  • pH: 6.0-8.0.
  • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water is preferable.
  • Tank Size: A minimum of a 20-gallon tank is recommended, with a preference for larger tanks as they grow.
It's crucial to provide plenty of hiding places with smooth rocks, driftwood, and dense vegetation. A sandy or smooth gravel substrate is ideal to protect their delicate barbels. Regular water changes and filtration are necessary to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
