Native to the Western Pacific Ocean, particularly around Papua New Guinea and Australia, this basslet inhabits reef caves and overhangs, often found hovering upside down in shaded areas.

A carnivorous species that thrives on small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality frozen or pellet foods. Feed once or twice daily for best health and coloration.

Very peaceful and reef-safe, making it an ideal addition to community and reef aquariums. It coexists well with gobies, clownfish, chromis, and other non-aggressive species. Avoid housing with highly aggressive fish that may intimidate or outcompete it.

Exceptionally peaceful, though it may become slightly territorial toward its own kind in small tanks. Can be kept singly or as a mated pair in larger aquariums with ample rockwork and hiding spaces.
